THE DOGPATCH NEIGHBORHOOD
The Dogpatch is a historic neighborhood located on the flats east of Potrero Hill in San Francisco. Once a booming industrial epicenter of the cities central waterfront, the Dogpatch fell into industrial decline when the local shipbuilding industry died after World War II. What was once a neighborhood of proud working class families, the neighborhood became a no man's land during the late 1950s and 1960s. In recent years, a collection of artists and working professionals have started moving back into the neighborhood and the streets are thriving with new businesses opening on a regular basis.
